Ok, before anyone gets too excited, I should point out that this week’s entry in “Remember! You Asked For It!”, suggested by Tyler Stewart, is NOT the much-awaited sequel to “Kubo and the Two Strings.” I know, I know, I was disappointed too but I should have been tipped off by the fact that the movie would have skipped strings three, four, and five. That’s on me. What we have here instead is a bizarre cult movie with martial arts fury, swordplay, an annoying kid, a Russian band called The Red Elvises, and a literal manifestation of the classic struggle between Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal. I know what you’re thinking: “Oh, man, AGAIN?” But did I mention the bitchin’ soundtrack? No? Well, that’s on me again. Not my day, really. But let us help you make this YOUR day and listen in to our discussion of “Six String Samurai” and the power of RAAWWWWKKK!!!

I have 2 choices: Who Framed Roger Rabbit, an alternate history if there ever was one. As chaotic and messed up as it would be in real life, the idea of cartoons living in the real world is really fun. Insignificance, the Nicolas Roeg film which asks the age old question “what it Marylin Monroe, Kennedy, Joe DiMaggio and Albert Einstein were in the same hotel room?” Marylin Monroe explain the general theory of relativity to Einstein to prove that she can – using toys. It’s a great film that delves into the fears of each person in flashbacks as only Nicolas Roeg can do them.
Sorry for the slow response, O Great Northern Nabob! That movie “Insignificance” sounds fascinating! I’ve never even heard of it, but you had me at “Marilyn Monroe explains the general theory of relativity using toys.” Seriously?! I hope I can find this flick! Thanks!
It might be hard to find, roeg films are a little obsure these days! I love track 29 with gary oldman by him as well and its also a trip!
Wait ….. “Track 29”? Is that a reference the song “Chattanooga Choo-choo”? (“Track 29! And can I give you a shine?”). Dang….
Yes , sort of… there are train sets involved and it had Sandra Burnhard and Chrstopher Llyod with Theresa Russell. There are still a few films he made I haven’t seen yet. I need to rectify that!
