Episode 17: Bohemian Rhapsody

Welcome to our latest series, “In Theaters Now.” In this series, we actually discuss a movie that is currently playing, quite possibly in a theater near you; we see the movie on Thursday or Friday and then have the discussion up for you on Monday.  How do we do it? Volume, volume, volume! And speaking of volume, this week we’re talking about the rock bio-pic “Bohemian Rhapsody” starring Rami Malek, which tells the story (sort of) of the rise of the classic rock band Queen.  Is it worth seeing? Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?

  1. OkI’m that guy again.. I LOVE Yoko Ono… heroin and vodka days aside, I think she’s pretty fun and I never really liked the Beatles so I don’t have any emotion attached to her and them. I know it’s only me and my ex -girlfriend but no one ever said we had good taste. I was never a huge Queen fan, Mercury had a voice like non other though but not including the Flash Gordon soundtrack makes this a non-starter for me. I even watched “Ted” only because of the Flash Gordon parts.

    1. Vince, you are a diehard with Flash! The movie is plenty entertaining, just not really true. Really, you can pull out a copy of “Queen Greatest Hits,” look up some YouTube footage and be fine. Thanks for listening!

      1. I had a huge crush on Buster Crabbe as a kid! I really loved the 80s film as it went full camp, hiring the TV Batman writer was genius. Sam Jones wasn’t ugly either.
