Answer to the poll question: No. They had the chance to do it “their” way the first time. Now, if a DIFFERENT director wanted to have a shot at a movie, I would say maybe, depending on who and which movie. Might be interesting to see what Baz Luhrmann could do with A New Hope… 😉
I think I’m reading this right; you’re ok with a different director making a whole different version of a given film, you’re not in favor of a director re-editing or “improving” someone else’s film, right?

Never saw or heard of this movie….and I have seen Rogue Warfare 3! I like Cheadle quite a bit but not sure this one is for me. As a thought experiment, I think creators can do whatever they want with their creations, including change and update parts later on. The original Star Trek series remastered with new effects is awesome, they did it right I’m my opinion and I like the directors cut of Blade Runner, especially without the horrible narration. I can see Lucas wanting to update effects in the original Star Wars, but he went so much further than that and added so much stuff that just added nothing and takes away from a great film just because he could. So theoretically not off the table for me, but seems like a bad idea in most cases and if they do it, the original should still be available somehow.
Good points, Vince! I especially agree with the part about the original version being available for those who want it. Lucas VERY grudgingly offered the original theatrical release of Star Wars ONCE on DVD and it wasn’t even a cleaned up print. It really felt like a, “Fine. You want this? Here.” Blade Runner IS available in 5 different versions, but that suitcase edition is pricey. Star Trek remastered is a really rare incident where they kept to the feel of the original in almost every way and it came out good. Thanks! More BumpyBux for you!
