Episode 15: Buckaroo Banzai

A gem that was hidden, but no more! Ok, I think a number of folks know this one, but not nearly enough! This week we’re talking about the 1984’s “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension”.  See the fabulous outfits of Peter Weller and Ellen Barkin! Watch John Lithgow leave no piece of scenery un-chewed (seriously, this is one of his funniest performances ever).  We must work while the clerk, she is ticking! History is made at night! Character is what you are in the dark!
Clearly, this is one of the most quotable movies ever.

  1. Wherever you go, there you are…

FYI – the quote above is apparently from Confucius, according to several sources. So neither one of you is right. So there.

Alan Ruck is also in one of my all time favorite movies, “Twister.”

Screaming Yellow Zonkers came back in 2015, but are currently unavailable. I miss them too.

You can buy an original headband on Ebay, but it’ll set you back $50.

    1. Too bad about the headband being so expensive; they look very cool. Alan Ruck? I don’t think he’s in “Buckaroo Banzai”; is there some other connection? Intriguing!
The Sky Pilot in “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome” also references “No matter where you go . . .”

    2. There’s a lot of supposed sources for that quote. I highly doubt it’s Confucius. Max, I think we wander into Alan Ruck for some reason; we just recorded this two months ago and have forgotten. $50 is too much for nostalgia, at least for that. :”D Thanks for listening, Val!
